Nchanga Rangers’ assistant coach Israel Mwanza has claimed that FC MUZA scored from an offside position when they beat his side 2-1 in Mazabuka on Wednesday in a Week 27 MTN Super League encounter.

Nchanga Rangers took the lead in the 6th minute through Mwiza Siwale before the home side restored parity in the 26th minute through Emmanuel Habasimbi as Francis Mashingini sealed the lead in the 66th minute for MUZA.

The result leaves Nchanga Rangers on 43 points in fourth place as FC MUZA moved to 40 points in seventh place on the log.

In a reaction to the match, Mwanza bemoaned the officiating, stating that MUZA got their second goal from an offside position.

“A very painful defeat, away from home. We needed this game so much, but unfortunately we didn’t get three points. The game we played there, especially in the first half, was a good game, and we scored a beautiful goal. But the second referee gave away that second goal. If you look at that goal they scored, it’s a clear offside,” Mwanza stated.

Attention shifts to Kansanshi Dynamos

Mwanza has quickly shifted attention to the next match against Kansanshi Dynamos at Nchanga Stadium.

“We have to go back home and prepare well for the next game on Sunday. We played a good game, but if you lose a game, it doesn’t mean you didn’t play well. We still have seven games to go, but we’re still fighting for the top four,” said Mwanza.

Meanwhile, FC MUZA head coach Nowell Phiri expressed delight with the team’s mentality after falling behind in the early stages.

Phiri urged the team to continue converting the chances into goals as they go on to face ZESCO United on Sunday.

“I think the most important thing is that we just need to work on scoring because if we continue scoring, then it will be very good for the team,” he said.

“What is important is that we have spoken to the boys so that at least we see the difference between league games and cup games, so they are equal to the task.”
