Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa has voiced his disappointment after the defending MTN Super League champions were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted side, Mines United, in a Week 3 fixture on Sunday.
The result leaves the Kitwe giants with four points from their opening two matches of the 2025/26 campaign, placing them in eighth position on the log.
Speaking after the match, Mutapa admitted his side had failed to capitalize on their early dominance, particularly in the first half.
“Just like you have said, we drew the match, we created the chances, especially in the first half. But we didn’t score. And football is about goals. So yes, we are disappointed — we have dropped points,” Mutapa said.
The coach acknowledged Mines United’s spirited display, noting that the debutants were inspired by the challenge of facing the champions.
“They were motivated playing against the champions. It’s not about underrating them, but we missed our chances. These are the kinds of games that are never easy, especially against sides coming from the National League. Today, they were motivated enough and they have gotten their first point of the season against us,” he added.
Mutapa calls for focus
While Power Dynamos introduced fresh legs in the second half, Mutapa conceded that the substitutions did not produce the desired impact.
“We didn’t create a lot of chances after the break. We needed more energy at certain points to help the team, but it didn’t work out as we expected,” he said.
Despite the frustrating draw, Mutapa stressed the importance of staying focused as the season is still in its early stages.
“This is only our second game of the season. We just have to keep working hard and ensure we make the most of our chances in the coming fixtures,” he concluded.
