The Edwin Imboela Stadium surface came under fire on Saturday after Napsa Stars head coach Sipho Mumbi labelled it “very bumpy” following his side’s goalless draw with Green Buffaloes in the Lusaka derby.
Saturday’s result leaves Napsa Stars in 13th position with six points from six matches, their only win of the campaign coming a week ago.
“We will take a point on a very bumpy pitch. It was a game of two halves; in the first half we dominated, and in the second half they were using just one route of playing long balls,” Mumbi said.
The Napsa boss attributed his side’s lack of goals to inexperience and impatience in the final third but stressed that the team is still developing.
“It was just the attacking where we didn’t have much patience. We are a young team; most of our boys are still learning. We just have to continue helping them to get better,” he explained.
Despite both teams failing to produce any goals in the match, Mumbi praised the supporters who turned up in numbers for the derby.
“Just like always, we thank them for coming out in numbers to support the game of football. It wasn’t about supporting Napsa or Green Buffaloes; it was about supporting the game of football,” he said.
