Napsa Stars football Club head coach Sipho Mumbi says facing his former club’s head coach Ian Bakala will be an emotional moment.
Mumbi, last season served as first assistant coach to Nkana, head coach Bakala as they helped the 13-times Zambian champions survive relegation following a poor start to the season.
Napsa Stars are aiming to rebound from a 1-0 defeat against Zesco United last weekend, as Kalampa are still in search of their first win of the season.
Speaking in an interview, Mumbi says it will be emotional to play against his former head coach but states that both sides are planning on collecting three points.
“It will be an emotional one, Ian Bakala being my former head coach. We have faced each other as players; now we are facing each other as coaches, him being like a father. Just like we are planning, they are also planning; they want to win and we want to win; we’ll put emotions aside,” Mumbi said.
Mumbi further states that being a former coach at Nkana gives him a slight idea to predict how the record Super League winners will set up.
“I know most of the players [at Nkana], and of course they have changed here and there, but I believe I still know how their approach will be tomorrow,” he said.
“But football is a game of moments, so it will depend on how Nkana players will react; they might react in a different way from what I’m thinking; overall, we are up to the task. We’ll have a positive result tomorrow.”
The week 5 match will be played at Lusaka’s REIZ Arena formerly, Woodlands stadium.
In the last four matches, both teams have recorded slender 1-0 wins at their respective hones, with two scoring draws.
