Two years after his dismissal, Mumamba Numba has hurt Zesco United where it matters the most, following Kabwe Warriors’ recording a 2-0 win over the Ndola side.
In 2022, Zesco dismissed Numba, months after he guided them to the title. His crime? failure to make it into the group stage of the Champions League.
However, the former Chipolopolo midfielder has picked himself since that setback, moving to Warriors where he is looking to revive the sleeping giant.
Today’s win was more than sweet revenge, it helped Warriors disposes Zesco United from the top, much to the delight of their adoring travelling fans.
It was a Banda shows as Gabrial and Francis Banda scored the all important goals against this Zesco side drilled by interim coach Emmanuel Siwale.
Questions may now intensify on whether or not Siwale, has what it takes to be in charge of the nine-times Zambian champions, after the club placed on an interim basis, following the dismissal of George Lwandamina.
15 minutes into the game, Gabriel gifted Warriors the opener helping them take the lead into the break.
On the restart, they only waited five minutes with Francis doubling the advantage.
Warriors now command the table with 28 points, two better than Zesco.
In Kitwe, Nkana recovered from a 1-0 loss to Zanaco beating Green Buffaloes 3-0 with goals from Jacob Ngulube, Lazarus Kambole and Mathews Banda.
