Zanaco head coach Numba Mumamba has bemoaned a lack of discipline after his side suffered a fourth defeat of the season, going down 2–0 to Napsa Stars.

Zanaco were beaten by their city rivals in a Week 15 MTN Super League fixture played at Sunset Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Bwalya’s fine strike in the 29th minute and Augustine Mulenga’s goal five minutes later sealed victory for the visitors.

The defeat left Zanaco third on the table with 27 points from 15 matches.

Notably, Zanaco have now failed to beat Napsa Stars in six meetings since November 2022, with the Pensioners claiming five wins and one draw.

The Bankers last defeated Napsa Stars in 2022, recording a 2–1 victory.

Addressing journalists after the match, Mumamba expressed disappointment with his team’s performance.

“A very disappointing result; we didn’t expect to concede. I think Napsa came to defend the entire 90 minutes, and we conceded two silly goals, and that gave them the courage to play and enjoy the game in the first half,” he said.

“In the second half we came from the break and played in their own half, but we didn’t have a bit of patience where we needed to penetrate from the flanks so that we could create the scoring opportunities,” added the coach.

He continued, “This is a game we couldn’t have lost if we applied ourselves according to the way we trained and the way we planned.”

“Of course we disappointed our fans, but this is how football is; we did not play to the expectation of everyone. All we need is to just get to work—push our team so that we can make amends in the coming games that we have,” he concluded.

Zanaco will now turn their focus to their next fixture against Nchanga Rangers.
