At Sunset stadium on Saturday, Zanaco FC registered a 2-0 victory over relegated Mines United, to set a new target of finishing in the top four.
Zanaco finally recorded a win after going through a four-game losing streak in their previous matches.
Araina Lambart and Dominic Kanda got the goals for the bankers.
Sensational Zanaco have moved to sixth on the log with 45 points, while confirming Mines United’s demotion from the Super League.
Reacting to the result, Zanaco FC head coach Numba Mumamba said the victory is a huge morale booster for the team.
“A very big motivation on our part, looking at where we are coming from, where we have gone four games losing. I think it is something that brought our confidence levels low, but getting a victory today is something that will boost our morale” he said.
Mumamba added that the team’s main objective is to secure a top four finish.
“Our objective for this season is to finish in the top four brackets. That is our objective for this season, looking at where we are coming from. We were fighting relegation last season, and for us asking the players to win the league is too much for them,” he said.
Looking ahead, Zanaco in the next fixture will encounter Red Arrows.
“As we prepare for Red Devils, we hope to see a different Zanaco football club. I think the most realizable objective is to finish in the top four brackets so that as we go into the off-season, we beef up the team, and then we can give ourselves another challenge in the coming season,” Mumamba said.
