Mufulira Wanderers are closing in on signing River Plate Football Club skipper Elijah Lukwesa on a two-year loan deal.
Lukwesa, who captained the Southern Province Division One champions to a successful promotion into the FAZ National League, caught the eye of Maite’s scouts during the playoffs. His solid performances at the back have convinced Wanderers to bring him on board.
The central defender is already on the Copperbelt province and is expected to be unveiled soon, sources have confirmed to Bolanews.
With the recent arrival of Crawford Mwaba from Nkwazi Football Club, another central defender, Lukwesa’s addition is seen as a crucial move to bolster Mufulira Wanderers’ defense ahead of the new season, which kicks off this weekend.
