Kelvin Mubanga has been integral to Zesco United’s success since his arrival from Nkana FC, winning the Zambian Super League with them in the 2020/21 season.

He has been key for the club which is chasing a top-two finish in the Super League as they aim to return to continental football next season.

Last year, Mubanga won the COSAFA Championship with the Chipolopolo boys. He was also voted the player of the tournament in that competition.

The 26-year-old has disclosed that he hopes to make a dream move to a club outside Zambia in the future.

With Chipolopolo Boys a win away from qualifying for the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations that will be played next year, Mubanga believes that his dream of playing outside Zambia can come true if he continues to make a cut in the final squad for the national team.

“The drive is all about every time there is a national team caller up, I need to be there…… And or also maybe get a chance of playing outside the country. I don’t know what God has planned for me but it can happen anytime soon,” he said.

Mubanga is optimistic he will play continental football next season

Mubanga is also optimistic that he will play continental football next season with Zesco United.

“We are outsiders to finish top two, but we are trying to push ourselves until the last game. This is Football which is full of surprises,” Mubanga said. “And we are trying to win all the games that are remaining, maybe we will have a chance of playing Confederations cup.”

The midfielder registered his first goal in the league over the weekend when his side defeated Nchanga Rangers 3-1.

Mubanga is expected to be in action for Zesco when they host Nkana F.C at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium this Saturday.
