Week 31 of the MTN Super League delivered a thrilling mix of action, drama, and tight contests across various venues. Power Dynamos strengthened their grip on the league title, now requiring just four points to secure their eighth title.
Power Dynamos Stand Out with Convincing Win
League leaders Power Dynamos recorded the most convincing result of the midweek, defeating Nkwazi FC 2-0 in a dominant display. Goals from Titus Chansa and Prince Mumba sealed the victory, with clinical finishing and solid defense ensuring another clean sheet. The win lifted Power to 63 points, and with just three games remaining, they need four points from their upcoming fixtures against Nkana and Green Eagles to clinch the title.
Vital Wins for Zesco, Nkana, Mutondo, and Atletico
Zesco United edged Kabwe Warriors 1-0 thanks to a 36th-minute goal from Leonard Mulenga, keeping their slim hopes of surpassing Power Dynamos alive. Nkana FC also secured a crucial 1-0 win over Green Buffaloes, with Indriss Mbombo scoring his 11th goal of the season.
Mutondo Stars triumphed 1-0 over Lumwana Radiants earlier today, with Luke Menyani’s 57th-minute strike proving decisive. In a late upset, Atletico Lusaka stunned defending champions Red Arrows with a 90th-minute goal by Samson Malaya to secure a 1-0 victory at Nkoloma Stadium.
Zanaco Take Crucial Home Win
Zanaco FC, battling relegation, secured a vital 1-0 win over Green Eagles, with Robert Saizi scoring the only goal of the match in the 20th minute, helping the Bankers move two points clear of the relegation zone. Despite already being relegated, Indeni FC capitalized on their home advantage, edging Mufulira Wanderers 1-0 with a Jonathan Munalula goal in the 61st minute.
In Ndola, Forest Rangers and Nchanga Rangers played out a goalless draw, leaving Rangers deep in the relegation zone. They will need to step up their performance as the season nears its close.
