Golden Mashata, a midfielder for the Chipolopolo Boys, has vowed to battle for the Zambian Super league side, Green Buffaloes despite their poor performance in the 2023-24 season.
In a Week 21 match played at Imboela Stadium on Saturday, Green Buffaloes fell short 2-1 against their city rival Nkwazi.
With the loss, Buffaloes suffered their ninth league setback of the season and fell to 14th in the rankings.
The Army Sponsored side have been inconsistent so far and if they risk suffering relegation at the end of the season.
However, in an exclusive interview with Bolanews, Mashata promised to help the team get back to winning ways despite their current poor performance.
“Not so good, but we are pushing. I am working hard every day,” he said.
The young midfielder also added that he is confident the team will bounce back and is looking forward to scoring more goals and join the race to win the Golden boot.
“To help my team win more games and to add up more goals on my scoring chat,” concluded Mashata.
In 20 games, the Green Buffaloes midfielder has so far tallied five goals and seven assists. Mashata will be expected to continue his excellent play to assist the Buffaloes in returning to winning ways in the Super League after making an impression at the 2023 Cosafa competition.

In an attempt to move up in the league standings, Green Buffaloes will host the Konkola Blades on Saturday.
