Nkwazi Football Club head coach Masauso Tembo said he is pleased with his team’s performance despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to an in-form Power Dynamos side on the weekend.
The police-sponsored outfit recorded their fourth loss of the season in the Week 10 fixture played at Arthur Davies Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The result extended Nkwazi’s winless run to ten matches in the 2025–26 season, leaving them in the relegation zone with just six points collected so far.
Speaking to journalists after the match, Tembo expressed satisfaction with his players’ efforts despite the setback.
“Yes, not an easy game. I think the early goal destabilised us. Our plan was to contain. If you saw the goal , the mistake from the winger, it ended up in the goal, so we keep working,” he said.
“But I think I am happy with the way we played our first half; we contained, but I think the early goal really destabilised us. I am happy with my boys and the way we managed to contain it.”
On Playing at Arthur Davies Stadium
Masauso was proud of his boys for not conceding many goals, stating that it’s not easy to stop Power from scoring at Arthur Davies Stadium.
“One zero here at Arthur Davies I think I am happy with my boys. This is Arthur Davies. At Arthur Davies, you have to make a plan to come here. If you come here without a plan, you will lose 5-0. We came here with a plan, but with the early goal in 50 seconds, you allowed a goal; you were destabilised, but I am happy with my boys; we contained it. We go back to work.”
Nkwazi will now turn their focus to their next fixture at Edwin Imboela Stadium, where they host Mines United.
