Nkwazi goalkeeper Lucas Mainza has called on the team to solidify their defense to avoid conceding too many goals in their upcoming fixtures in the second round of the season.
Nkwazi have struggled for form in recent matches, dropping six points in two games.
The Zambia Police-sponsored side suffered back-to-back defeats, losing 1–0 at home to Nkana before recording a humiliating 4–0 loss away to Kabwe Warriors last weekend.
Nkwazi are sitting deep in relegation waters with 18 points from 20 matches played so far. They have only managed three wins, nine draws, and eight defeats.
Speaking to Bolanews exclusively, Mainza said, “Football is too spiritual, but I don’t believe in witchcraft; if you lose, you lose. It’s a team problem, not an individual problem. You can agree with me if you have watched some of our games.”
“We just have to start winning; we don’t have much time to fix everything right now. Going forward, we have to play to win every game we play. We are trying by all means to correct and work on our mistakes and hope we will execute whatever we have been doing in training,” added the shot-stopper.
The goalkeeper has featured in 18 games for the Lusaka-based side so far this season.
Nkwazi will meet Zanaco in their next Super League assignment on Sunday as they seek to redeem themselves and return to winning ways.
