Konkola Blades head coach Beston Chambeshi says his side is ready to battle Zesco United as they look to revive their hopes of securing a top slot finish in the MTN Super League.
Konkola Blades will host Zesco United in their rescheduled Week 18 fixture on Thursday at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.
Chambeshi’s side is aiming to bounce back after a 1-1 draw with FC Leopards, while Zesco United look to recover from a 2-1 home loss to Mufulira Wanderers. Blades are ninth with 27 points from 20 games, with Zesco just behind in 11th on 25 points from 18 matches.
Chambeshi said, “All the teams in the MTN Super League want to win the league, and we are one of them, and our aim is to make sure that we finish on a good note, and that means we also have to fight for the top slot,” he said.
“We have been ready to play all the teams in the Super League; we are not choosing which team. And we just have to make sure that the teams that come, we have to face them with a serious approach. Zesco is one of the teams in the Super League, yes, it’s a big team, but Konkola Blades is one of the big teams in the Super League.
“We have psyched the players. They have to fight until the last whistle, so it will be a good game,” added Chambeshi.
We are prepared – Siwale
Meanwhile, Zesco United coach Emmanuel Siwale said his team is focused on collecting maximum points.
“We are prepared, we are always ready, and we know it’s an away game; it’s going to be tough. All the games are tough, but what we want is the positive result. Collecting maximum points because, mind you, in the game we played at home, we dropped points, which was not good, so we want to mend that,” Siwale said.
