Konkola Blades Football Club captain Kelly Kayembe has emphasized the significance of the upcoming Carling Black Label Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Charity Shield Match, set for August 9, 2025, at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The match, which traditionally serves as the curtain-raiser for the domestic football season, will see Konkola Blades—winners of the Zambia National Division One League—take on Kansanshi Dynamos, who finished as runners-up.
The Charity Shield this year will take place in Ndola over two days, and Konkola Blades Ladies FC will compete against National Assembly in the Women’s National League.
For the Super League, MTN Super League winners Power Dynamos have a date against Zesco United while Eden University Women’s Super League champions Zesco Ndola Girls will take on Green Buffaloes, runners up last season.
Speaking to Bola News, Kayembe expressed his team’s readiness and the importance of the fixture in shaping their campaign ahead of their return to the MTN Super League.
“We’re taking the Charity Shield match seriously, but we’re also enjoying the process. Preparation’s been solid, everyone’s locked in and ready. It means a lot for us as a team, not just to win, but to build that connection, rhythm, and confidence going into the season,” he said.
In an attempt to acquire early bragging rights before the 2025–26 season, Sharp Razor will try to make an impression against a tenacious Kansanshi team.
