Jacob Kaunda, a striker for Nchanga Rangers FC has revealed why he fell short of scoring more than 10 goals during the 2025-26 MTN Super League season.
The former Power Dynamos striker, scored seven goals last season. He won the award for the best goal of the season during the MTN Super League awards.
In an interview, Kaunda says despite not getting beyond the 10-plus goal target, the season helped him to regain his confidence as a striker.
He also acknowledged that the injury setback derailed his early momentum in the season.
“Last season was good for us as a club, as we managed to finish 5th after finishing 11th the season before. Personally, it has helped me regain my confidence back, and that’s thanks to the coaches who showed their faith in me,” he said.

“My target was to get 10-plus goals, so I did not meet it, but that was as a result of the injury I sustained that made me miss some games. Hopefully the next season will be injury-free, and I can accomplish my goal of scoring more than 10 goals.”
The towering forward also revealed that he dreams of winning a Super League title with Nchanga Rangers, who have a reputation in Zambian football.
“Nchanga is a big club, and our target is always to win the league. We have the personnel and the attitude it requires to win it, so that will be our target come the next season,” he concluded.
