Kansanshi Dynamos head coach Donewell Yobe claims his squad was relegated owing to inconsistency in away games.

The Solwezi-based team defeated FC Muza 2-0 in a week-33 encounter at Solwezi Independence Stadium, but it was enough to keep them in the top-flight competition.

They are in 16th place with 35 points from 33 games, having won only 8 games, drawn 11, and lost 14. They’ll play their final game of the season this Saturday against Forest Rangers, who need a win or draw to stay in the top tier.

“It’s a disappointing state of affairs for the club, sponsors, supporters, and the province at large,” Yobe told the club’s media. “But I am happy with how the boys are playing football.. We have been unfortunate in these games that we have played, especially the second half. We could have gotten positive results; definitely, we will come back stronger and with a better side.”

Yobe bemoaned: “At home, we were getting points, when we go away, the inconsistency of not getting positive results affected us more. We didn’t perform well away.”

The trainer said they will play for pride in their final against Forest Rangers.

“One game to go, we want to finish strong because there is pride to play for and also just to finish on a high because preparation for next season starts now,’ he said.

He continued: “We don’t wait to go into off season because we need the continuity to continue from where the boys are going to finish.”
