Despite the fact that the Kabwe Warriors lost 1-0 to the Green Buffaloes on Sunday, head coach Numba Mumamba believes his team performed well.
The defeat in the Week 27 fixture at the Edwin Imboela Stadium was the Warriors’ ninth defeat of the season.
Friday Samu scored the match-winning goal in the 29th minute.
With only seven games left before the season concludes, Warriors will be eyeing a top-four finish. They are currently sixth with 38 points in the league standings.
Mumamba told journalists after the match that he was disappointed with the loss after dominating play.
“A disappointing result looking at the way we controlled the game and missed chances. I think the Buffaloes only had one scoring opportunity and they utilised it and it has made a difference and they have gotten the three points,” he said.
Mumamba added: “But on our part, we had at least three clear chances, which could have made a difference, but our finishing as usual has let us down; otherwise, the team has played well. I think we just have to pick our pieces and forge ahead.”
Warriors’ next match will be against Indeni in the quarterfinals of the 2024 ABSA Cup this weekend.
