Indeni Football Club midfielder Reuben Chansa has revealed that the newly promoted side is aiming to finish at least in eighth position in the 2024–25 Zambian Super League season.
The Oilo Boys finished fourth in the National Division One League to clinch promotion to the Super League alongside Atletico Lusaka, Nchanga Rangers, and Lumwana Radiants.
Under the tutelage of experienced gaffer Tenant Chembo, the Ndola side will be aiming to prolong their stay in the elite league. Chembo will be relying on the experience of players such as Chansa, Shadreck Malambo, and Jubel Sakala, among others, who have played in the Super League before.
Speaking to Bolanews, Chansa said the team is focused on securing their spot beyond the upcoming season.
The midfielder states that returning to the Super League is yet another opportunity for him to work hard and help the club stay in the league.
“We are ready for the season; the preseason is going well,” Chansa said. “I’m very happy to be part of the team in the Super League. I think this is a very big chance for me to really work hard in each and every game.”
Indeni FC’s build-up to the Super League
On Wednesday, Chansa was on the scoresheet as the Ndola side beat Kafue Celtic 2-0 in the first of the two friendly matches.
The pre-season results have been a mixed bag for Indeni. They played against different opponents, including town rivals ZESCO United.
Chansa says the results recorded in preseason have given the team much-needed preparation for the big stage.
“Yes, everyone is happy. We have played with big teams during our preseason, and the team looks good and balanced. Personally, I have to help the team remain in the Super League. If we come out at least number eight, it’s a bonus for us,” he stated.
