Innocent Kashita ended the campaign with a bang, scoring a vital away goal against Kabwe Warriors a week before the last day that not only improved Nkwazi’s performance on the road but also cemented his name in the club’s history books.
With his tenth goal of the season, Kashita became just the third player in Nkwazi history to score ten goals in a single league season.
Joining Steward Chikandiwa, who scored 10 goals in 2013, he now trails only the great Keegan Phiri, who set the club record for the most goals in a season in 2004 and came within three goals of winning the Golden Boot.
He also scored the third-highest number of away goals in a single season (5) thanks to his incredible run of form, surpassing players like Eric Choomba (2019), Sebastian Mwansa (2018), and Justin Shonga (2017), who all had three goals.
Kashita Unshakable Devotion To The Badge.
Nkwazi was able to secure important points on the road, frequently when it needed most, thanks to his constant danger in away games.
According to Kashita’s view of the recently concluded season on the High Flying Nkwazi Facebook page, he remains humble and focused on the team:
“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved as a team. Scoring 10 goals means a lot, but it’s more important that those goals helped us push forward. Records come and go, but team progress is what matters most.”
His scoring record impressed a lot of people, one being record holder of the top scorers’ chart Keegan Phiri “10 goals from a midfielder is very impressive. A few improvements on his movements and position should see him score more, maybe even going past my record of 15. I will be glad to see him get to that tally. “
Kashita is now permanently inscribed with the greats of Nkwazi FC, which is a testimonial to his diligence, skillful finishing, and unshakable devotion to the badge.
