On Tuesday afternoon, Ian Bakala was introduced as head coach, taking Bestone Chambishi’s place, who had been placed on administrative leave due to a spate of disappointing losses to start the new season.
The long-term goal of Bakala’s three-year contract with the Kitwe giants is to get Nkana into the top-flight of football. The team’s immediate goal is to get into the ABSA.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Bakala expressed optimism that the team will begin to gather winning results from upcoming fixtures in the season.
“I am here to do my part to make the team start performing well the season is still there, I promise to do my best, I can’t promise the league, but we are going to do better, “said Bakala.
Meanwhile, Bakala believes the team has the quality to compete.
“It’s not something new this is the third time Nkana is approaching me they have got a good plan, Forest and I got nothing to say it’s just an upgrade in my career because Nkana is a big team,” concluded the former Lusaka dynamos coach.
What a way to start for Bakala?
In the interim, Mike Poto will remain the goalkeeper coach, and Sipho Mumbi, Josphat Khoma, and George Chilufya will join him as assistant coaches.
The Red Devils are bottom on a log without a point because they have lost all three of their games thus far, and the new coach will be in desperate need of a victory in his debut.
