After missing out on both the 2025 Golden Glove Award and the ABSA Cup Golden Glove last season, Nchanga Rangers goalkeeper Victor Chabu says he is determined to win one of the awards this season.
Chabu narrowly missed out on the Golden Glove last season after facing stiff competition from Power Dynamos’ Willard Mwanza, Toaster Nsabata, and Nkwazi’s Lucas Mainza.
He was, however, named the 2024 ABSA Cup Best Goalkeeper after delivering an outstanding performance in the competition, despite Nchanga Rangers suffering an early elimination.
The Rangers’ shot-stopper has started the 2025–26 season impressively, keeping three clean sheets in six matches.
Chabu has been instrumental in helping his side secure third place in the league standings with 13 points from six games. He said his focus is on maintaining consistency and helping his team reach new heights.
“The first target will be to play ABSA then I also want to help my team finish in the top four,” Chabu said told BolaNews.
He added: “I am targeting the golden gloves in both the ABSA Cup and the Super League. So between the two I have to walk away with one. So am really working hard together with my coach to make sure I achieve something at the end of the league.”
Chabu and his Nchanga Rangers side return to action this weekend after the international break with a clash against Green Buffaloes at the Edwin Imboela Stadium.
