Green Eagles Football Club striker Simon Mulenga has claimed that the squad’s collective goal of qualifying for the ABSA Cup event motivates his performances for the fourth-placed MTN Super League side.
Mulenga has six goals in the 2024/25 Super League season, as of Week 14.
He scored twice in his previous game against Zanaco Football Club, which ended in a three-all draw.
Mulenga has five goals in his previous three outings, including a brace against Indeni Football Club in Week 12.

In an interview with BolaNews, Mulenga emphasized that his primary goal is to assist the Eagles in qualifying for the Absa Cup before the end of the first round.
“Our motivation is to qualify and compete in the ABSA Cup and thereafter, God willing, to fight and win the cup,” Mulenga said.
Despite his impressive performance, Mulenga was left out of Wedson Nyirenda’s tentative squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Mozambique.
Mulenga reaffirms his commitment to working hard to earn a spot on the team while also striving to improve on previous performances.
“We’ll have to remain united, focused, work extra hard, adhere to our coach’s instructions, and take each game as a cup final,” he said.
Mulenga has advised his colleagues to be focused as they prepare for this weekend’s Military Derby against Green Buffaloes.
