The Green Eagles football club has parted ways with head coach Alex Namazaba after a string of poor results.
Namazaba was officially named Green Eagles head coach in December 2022, after the club fired Aggrey Chiyangi.
The 50-year-old served as interim head coach beginning October 5, 2022, with his first match against the Kabwe Warriors, which ended in a 0-0 tie before he was later taken over on a full-time basis.
The club announced through a statement that it would confirm Namazaba’s departure on Wednesday.
“Zambia National Service-sponsored Side Green Eagles football club management has today parted ways with the club’s head coach, Alex Namazaba, and his second assistant, Ronald Mukosha.”
Meanwhile, Kebby Hachipuka has been appointed as the interim head coach.
“Management has since engaged former Zambia National Team midfielder Kebby Hachipuka as interim coach to be deputised by First Assistant Coach, Kelvin Mwaanga,” read part of the statement.
Namazaba helped the team qualify for the 2024 ABSA Cup tournament where they will face Atletico Lusaka in the round of 16 this weekend.
They are seventh in the league standings with 34 points from 25 matches, including nine victories, seven draws, and nine defeats.
