Green Buffaloes head coach Masauso Tembo is now the leading candidate to become the next Zambia Super League coach to lose his job, BolaNews has learned.
Once a title contender, the Zambia Army-sponsored side has endured a rough patch, and pressure is mounting on Tembo after a string of disappointing results. The club’s executive is currently reviewing recent performances, with sources indicating that the coach’s future hangs in the balance. If things don’t improve immediately, his time at the helm could be over in just a matter of days—or even after the next match.
At the start of the season, optimism ran high among Buffaloes supporters, fuelled by the rallying slogan “It’s coming home to the barracks.” But that confidence has since faded.
With only 11 games left in the campaign, Buffaloes have slipped to 10th place on the log with 30 points from 23 matches (7 wins, 9 draws, and 7 losses). They now trail league leaders Zesco United by a significant 13-point margin.
The biggest concern for the club’s hierarchy is the team’s recent form. Buffaloes have managed just one win in their last five league outings, raising doubts over whether Tembo can turn things around. With odds stacked against him, his fate may already be sealed unless an immediate turnaround is seen on the pitch.
