Green Buffaloes striker George Ngoma has joined the race for the 2023/24 Zambian Super League Golden Boot.
Ngoma has maintained his excellent form for the Army-sponsored side, scoring twice last weekend to help his team win 4:2 over Konkola Blades.
The striker has so far scored 7 goals and 6 assists in 18 matches.
With reigning topscorer Freddy Michael, who scored 14 goals in the first half of the season, no longer in contention for the Golden Boot after joining Tanzania’s Simba from Green Eagles, Ngoma has a chance to win the award.

However, he will need to outscore FC MUZA’s Andrew Phiri and Red Arrows’ Ricky Banda, who have 10 and 8 goals, respectively.
“My target this season is to finish strong as a team, and personally, in terms of scoring, I simply need to finish on a high note,” Ngoma told BolaNews in an interview.
“The league is still open and we still have more games. I really have to score more goals; at least at the end of the season, I have to be somewhere in terms of scoring goals.”
Ngoma does not want Buffloes to drop points and struggle for survival in the league.
“Green Buffaloes is a big team; it’s not supposed to be fighting relegation,” he said. ” We will keep on working extra hard until the last game.”
Green Buffaloes are currently in 11th place in the Super League, with 27 points from 22 matches. They will meet the defending champions, Power Dynamos, tomorrow.
