Trident Football Club has announced that head coach George Chilufya and his assistant Jackson Mwanza have left the club with immediate effect.
The former Mutondo Stars head coach initially joined Trident FC as interim manager until the end of the previous season.
Chilufya, who holds a CAF A coaching licence, also previously managed Nkana FC. He left Mutondo Stars—a club he first joined as technical director—before taking over as head coach following the departure of Zeddy Saileti, who joined Kansanshi Dynamos.
“The duo has decided to leave the club in pursuit of new opportunities. The Club would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Coach Chilufya and Coach Mwanza for their invaluable contributions to Trident FC during their tenure,” Trident FC said in a statement.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Mvula Mangulenje, added: “We are grateful for their service and commitment to the club. We wish them success in their future endeavours.”
Chilufya and Trident were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract. He has now joined Kabwe Warriors on a two-year contract together with his assistant Mwanza.
“We have great expectations from you and your assistant. We actually feel that with your vast experience and your winning mentality, we want to win the league this coming season,” Kabwe Warriors Chairman Clyde Muleya said after unveiling Chilufya and his assistant.
