Former Nkana FC and Konkola Blades defender Bob Chansa has died in Chililabombwe today.

Chansa, who played in the ZPL National League last season with Konkola Blades, also featured in the MTN Super League for Nkana after joining the Kitwe club in 2021.

At the time of his passing, he was a free agent, having parted ways with Konkola Blades in July after the expiry of his contract. He played a key role in helping the club win the ZPL National League and earn promotion to the MTN Super League last season.

Nkana confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement posted on their official Facebook page.

“NKANA Football Club is saddened by the unexpected death of our former defender, Bob Chansa, who passed away this morning in Chililabombwe after a short illness,” the statement read in part.

“Chansa joined Nkana in 2021 and was on the books of Konkola Blades during the 2024/25 Season.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to Chansa’s family, friends, and all those impacted by this tragic loss.

“As we honour his lasting impact on the sport of football, we cherish the legacy he has left behind.”
