Zesco United came from two goals down to silence the Arthur Davies Stadium on Sunday afternoon after forcing a 2-2 draw against Power Dynamos.

Dynamos played host to Zesco in matchday five of the Zambian League as both teams went in search of three points with a chance to go top of the League.

The first chance of the game fell to Zesco United’s Lazarus Kambole, but the former Kaizer Chiefs player saw his header comfortably saved by Lawrence Mulenga in the 10th minute.

Dynamos shot-stopper was the busiest of the two goalkeepers and was forced off the pitch in the 15th minute after colliding with Kelvin Kampamba of Zesco United.

The home team would have something to smile about moments later when Ian Otieno was shown a straight red card after he had been judged to bring down Andy Boyeli in the penalty area, but the referee controversially insisted it was a free kick at the edge of the 18-yard area.

Austin Muwowo then stepped up to score a beautiful free kick in the right top corner, beating Mwenya Chibwe, who replaced Colins Sikombe after a forced substitution.

Dynamos were in control of the game then after and made it 2-0 deep into added time before halftime, courtesy of a beautifully slotted-in chip by Andy Boyeli from a Muwowo assist.

Aba Yellow then made changes, resting Joshua Mutale and Captain Godfrey Ngwenwa for Kalonji Mwepu and Cephas Mulombwa, respectively. No sooner had those changes been made than the game opened up for Zesco who had opportunities coming from all angles.

It took Zega Mambo until the 79th minute to pull one back, with their star player Kelvin Kampamba scoring his fourth goal of the season to begin the comeback.

Five minutes later, the visitors then made it 2-2 through Abraham Siankombo to silence the Arthur Davies Stadium and complete a classic comeback.

Dynamos will now shift focus on next weekend’s CAF Champions League second-leg tie against Simba Sporting Club which is tied at 2-2 on aggregate.
