FC Muza defender Sydney Kasanda has responded to the ruling by the FAZ disciplinary committee that he will be charged with misconduct.

Kasanda will be charged for attacking Nkwazi FC media officer Jeff Mwape and damaging his phone during a week-28 MTN Super League match at Nakambala Stadium.

In a video that went viral on social media, the Nkwazi media officer who was filming during the match was heard yelling at the defender, “Iwe Chi Kasanda,” for stomping on his phone, which he was using to record.

The match was later abandoned in the 82nd minute when Nkwazi opposed the referee’s decision to award MUZA a penalty. As a result, the Disciplinary Committee has awarded FC MUZA three points, while Nkwazi was fined K200,000 after they were found guilty of causing the abandonment of the match.

What FAZ said about Kasanda

Kasanda, on the other hand, will be charged with bringing the name of the game into disrepute. This was according to a statement by FAZ on Saturday, which did not state exactly what the charge would be.

In an exclusive interview with BolaNews, Kasanda stated that he will respect any charges against him.

“I won’t say much about the charge. I will concentrate much on football because they are our leaders; whatever they have charged,” he said. “We just have to follow and football is a very disciplined game so I won’t comment much about that.”

Meanwhile, Kasanda scooped two awards on Monday at the FC Muza end-of-season awards gala.

He was voted the season’s most consistent and outstanding player.

Kasanda played 34 Super League matches, four CAF Confederations Cups, and three Absa Cup games with FC Muza.

The Elegant Dynamites defender contributed significantly to the team’s fourth-place finish in the league.
