Former Zambia U-20 captain Kelvin Mwanza is leaving Zambian Super League club Maestro United (FC MUZA) following the expiration of his contract on July 31, 2024.

The 21-year-old midfielder was the youngest captain in the Zambian Super League for the past two seasons. He leaves FC MUZA after six years at the Mazambuka-based side and making significant contributions to the club’s success.

BolaNews has established that Mwanza has already decided to leave the club and will be heading to the Copperbelt where he is being sought after by several Super League clubs.

Sources close to the club have also revealed that FC Muza wants to offer him a new contract but the player has already decided to leave.

FC MUZA finished fourth in the league last season, with Mwanza appearing in just under 20 games, scoring three goals and assisting two others.

They are one of Zambia’s fastest-growing clubs, having finished in the top four in their first two Super League seasons after being promoted from National Division One in 2022.

FC MUZA finished second in the 2022-23 season and qualified for their first CAF Confederation Cup competition. They were also runners-up in the 2023 ABSA Cup, losing to Forest Rangers in the final.

Meanwhile Mwanza has drawn interest from multiple clubs following his impressive stay at FC MUZA as a young leader.

He competed in the 2018 and 2019 Under-17 COSAFA Cups. In those two competitions, he made five appearances in total and won the 2019 title with Zambia.

Mwanza also played three matches for Zambia’s Under-20 team, which won the U-20 COSAFA Cup in 2022.
