Zesco United assistant coach Clive Hachilensa says the team is fully prepared for their crucial Week 33 clash against Mutondo Stars, set for Sunday at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Hachilensa emphasized the importance of finishing strong with only two games remaining in the 2024-25 MTN Super League season.
Zesco are currently second on the table with 60 points, four behind leaders Power Dynamos. A win for Dynamos on Saturday against Green Eagles would see them crowned champions.
“We sitting on 60 points and leaders are four ahead of us but us we are just focusing on our league games we just want to finish on the positive if we can win this one we prepare for Atletico,” he said.
Zega Mambo are also in a tight race for continental qualification and cannot afford any slip-ups. They lead third-placed Nkana by five points and will be looking to maintain that gap.
But Mutondo Stars, who are just one point above the relegation zone, have their own ambitions and won’t go down without a fight. Despite beating them 2-0 in the first leg at home, Hachilensa expects a tough encounter.
“So crucial we just need to work hard it won’t be easy we just need to carry three points. Mutondo they play well despite now they are fighting relegation which makes it so tough we just need to be ready,” he added.
Both teams head into Sunday’s match in good form. Zesco United have won their last three league matches, while Mutondo Stars are unbeaten in their last four, including back-to-back wins.
