Nkwazi head coach Aggrey Chiyangi is delighted after his team held Nkana to a 0-0 draw at Nkana Stadium on Sunday during a Week 5 fixture of the Zambian Super League.
The result means Nkwazi have now picked up two points on the road with back-to-back draws in the Copperbelt region.
On Wednesday they drew 1 all against Zesco United in a rescheduled match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
“This was, again, another very tough game playing at Nkana. But what we did is we worked on a plan, and we are happy that at least it has worked,” Chiyangi said.
“Despite the chances we missed in the first half, it could have helped us if we had scored even one goal.”
Coach Chiyangi believes his team has performed well, considering the strength of their opponents.
Chiyangi happy with two points on the road.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a bad trip. If you look at Nkana and Zesco, these are two big teams. It’s a plus for us because at least we’ve come out with two points, which is good for the team. No one even expected that we could draw with Zesco and then come and draw with Nkana,” he added.
Emmanuel Chabula had put the visitors ahead but his rebound shot was ruled out for offside in the 37th minute.
He followed up on Chris Chola’s initial shot, which was parried away by Nkana goalkeeper Moonga Ndala.
Despite the disallowed effort, Chiyangi praised his team’s attacking intent.
“This is what I want to see from them—creating those chances. It means the work that remains is to focus on the final touch to make the ball go into the goal,” Chiyangi explained.
