Power Dynamos hall of famer Aggrey Chiyangi says his former club has improved since playing in the group stage of the Champions League.
Chiyangi, who is also a Green Buffaloes coach, is a Power cult hero who was part of the team that won the club Zambia’s only continental club title, the CAF African Cup Winners’ Cup, formerly known as the Mandela Cup, in 1991.
On Thursday, he watched Buffaloes go down 3–0 to Power Dynamos.
“Playing in the CAF games has given them a certain importance. They have been playing against very good teams who put them under so much pressure… they have picked one or two things which are helping them,” Chiyangi said.
This season, Power reached the group stage of the Champions League and locked horns with the likes of FC Pyramids, RS Berkane and Nigerian side Rivers United.

“If you look at the way they are playing, they are coordinated. Why? Because they have seen what other good teams have done. That is giving them an advantage,” Chiyangi said.
Meanwhile, Power coach Osward Mutapa echoed Chiyangi’s comments.
“The lessons we learnt from there [in the champions league] not giving our opponent a lot of space, plying with the highest intensity, when you create chances you have to score and that is what we learnt from the champions league,” Mutapa said.
