Nkana supporters should expect a new topman or two in the January transfer window, with coach Mwenya Chipepo eying to reinforce the squad.
The MTN Super League will take a two-week break as players will be given time for festivities but it will also be a chance for clubs to pull off some mid-season deals in the January transfer market.
Chipepo, who has performed nothing short of a miracle since his arrival at Nkana Stadium, says his team will not go to sleep during the break as the coaches have tailored a program for the players.
When Chipepo arrived, Nkana was in the relegation zone, but they have moved from 16th place to joint second.
Chipepo is still not impressed with his striking department, so it is little surprise that he is looking to boost the team with strikers.
“We need to reinforce some of the positions in terms of scoring; we are defending well; we need to look at one of two players so that when it comes to the second round we won’t be having problems. We need people who can deliver. The only positions that are not functioning well are strikers,” he said in an interview.
On the Christmas break, he said his players know what is expected of them.
“We have psyched our players; they know how we work. When they go on break, they know how to look after themselves,” Chipepo said.
Meanwhile, Chipepo was not too bothered by the scoreless draw against Lumwana.
“I knew that it was going to be a very difficult game because Lumwana of late have started playing well they have performed well in the last two games,” he said.
