Mwenya Chipepo has experienced first hand the work he has before him after watching Nkana battle a scorless draw against Nchanga Rangers at home.
Academy coach Fidelis Chungu stood in the gap created by the firing of Ian Bakala as the club navigate their way around confirming Chipepo as their next coach.
Chipepo, who was on the books of Forest Rangers has given the clearest indication that his next destination is Nkana Stadium by attending the match alongside Chipolopolo legend Christopher Katongo.
Bolanews can reveal that Chipepo and Katongo made their way to the Nkana dressing room at half time and full time. His announcement is on the cards.
However, he will be less impressed with what he saw as Nkana missed a myriad of chances, settling for a draw that leaves them in the relegation zone.
Nkana’s poor scoring form continues
The best chance of the first half came in the 18th minute when Harrison Chisala’s low cross in the box was directed goal wise by Idris Mbombo but Justin Daka cleared from the line with Victor Chabu beaten.
The next chance fell to Lazarus Kambole who, from close range jumped high to meet a Chisala pass in the 37th minute but his effort went narrowly over the bar as Nkana continued to search for an opener.
It was all Nkana in the first half, but Rangers had the heavens to thank that the home side were not making the most of their chances.
On the 43rd minute, referee Mathew Hamalila gifted Nkana a free kick at the edge of the box after Sydeny Kasanda tripped Chisala. Mbombo took the free kick, sending the ball wide of Chabu’s goal.
At the death of the first half, Chisala’s shot range left foot drive was carried for a corner by Chabu. It was the first time the Chipolopolo keeper was really tasted.
In the second half, it was the same story of missed chances with the best of them all falling to Mbombo in the 80th minute she he was one on one with Chabu but sent the ball direct at the keeper.
He was substituted immediately and stormed to the dressing room much to the disappointment of Chungu and other members of the bench.
