Zambian Super League champion Power Dynamos’ head coach, Mwenya Chipepo, has confirmed that he has quit his role at the club.
Chipepo who was hired in October 2021, won the Super League last season and qualified Power for the CAF Champions League preliminary round, where they were eliminated by Tanzania’s Simba SC.
His excellent season with Power last season earned him the coach of the year award, beating out Lumwana Radiants trainer Lameck Banda, who was at MUZA FC at the time of the awards, and Green Buffalo’s Masauso Tembo.
On his resignation from his role at Power, Chipepo told the Zambia Daily Mail that “some officials” at the club were interfering with his team selection.
“I am no longer with the team; I have quit,” he was quoted as saying in Friday’s Dail Mail Newspaper. “I did my best but some officials still do not respect me and lately there has been a lot of interference regarding team selection.
