Kabwe Warriors head coach George Chilufya says he is expecting a tough battle when his side faces city rivals FC Leopards in the Kabwe derby this weekend at Railway Stadium.
Warriors began their 2025-26 MTN Super League campaign with a goalless draw against Kansanshi Dynamos in Solwezi on Saturday, and both sides now sit on one point each.
Reflecting on the opening fixture, Chilufya expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, noting that the positives will be carried into the derby.
“I think the boys gave their all. We created a lot of chances, which I feel we should have converted, at least one or two, but it is what it is. One point on the road is not a bad start. We shall build on the positives, and now our focus shifts to the match against FC Leopards,” Chilufya said.
The Warriors gaffer described the upcoming clash as an “interesting game” given the derby atmosphere but stressed the need for solid preparation and execution.
He also urged fans to remain patient and supportive as the club continues to blend experienced players with emerging talent.
“As a team, not just the young boys, the first eleven did what we wanted them to do. They played according to our game plan, and it gives me so much hope,” he added.
