Super league clubs have accelerated their preparations as the MTN FAZ Super League enters week two this weekend in an effort to score as many points as possible.
And Charles Zulu of the Zanaco Football Club has issued a warning to Super League defenders as he pursues the Golden Boot Award.
Zulu tells BolaNews that the group is also aiming for an unprecedented double victory in the Super League and the ABSA Cup.
For Zanaco Football Club who will play their first game this Saturday, talisman Charles Zulu believes scoring the most goals this season will be his target. “My personal target is to be the top scorer in this league and help the team achieve what we want,” he said.
The DSTV Premiership team Cape Town City released Charles Zulu after the end of last season, and Zulu afterwards joined Zanaco Football Club. Zulu has said that his side’s objective for this season is to win everything.
“Our target (as a team) is to win the League and the ABSA Cup,” he said. He also added that they aim to compete in the Champions League. “We believe we can compete in the Champions League, that’s our main goal.”
“We have forgotten about last season,”-Charles.
Zanaco had a season to forget during the 2022/2023 campaign when they nearly found themselves in relegation waters.
But the appointment of Wedson Nyirenda proved viable as the former Chipolopolo gaffer insured, they survived just four points away from above the relegation waters. With the view of getting back to the top, the 27-year-old believes last season is already a lost chapter.

“Ya, we had a difficult season but it’s now water under the bridge. We had a good pre-seasonal tour in Mongu,” he said.
The 7-time Super League Champions last won the League in 2016 under the reign of Numba Mumamba.
Other clubs looking for their first points this weekend include Nkana, Kabwe Warriors, and freshly promoted Konkola Blades. These teams lost their opening games.
