Konkola Blades head coach Beston Chambeshi says the just-ended international break has come at the right time for his team, giving them a chance to recharge ahead of the resumption of the MTN Super League.
The newly promoted Chililabombwe side has had a mixed start to life in the top flight. While they currently sit sixth on the table with four points, they are still chasing their first victory on the pitch. Their only full set of points so far came via the boardroom.
Speaking in an interview, Chambeshi said the break has been important for his squad to refresh and prepare for the upcoming tough fixtures.
“The break has given us time to recharge and work on certain areas of our game,” Chambeshi said. “We are still adapting to the demands of the Super League, but the players have shown great commitment and we believe our first win will come soon.”
Chambeshi, a seasoned trainer, added that the target for Blades this season is to establish themselves as a competitive Super League side.
“It is never easy for a promoted team, but our aim is to compete and make sure we remain in the topflight,” he said. “We are working hard every day to improve, and I am confident that the results will start coming.”
Blades return to league action this weekend with a home tie against Prison Leopards as they seek to convert their promising performances into three points on the pitch.
