Beston Chambeshi gutted by Nkana defenders’ lack of maturity

"We need maturity, especially in defense," bemoaned Chambeshi after a frustrating draw with the Green Buffaloes on Saturday.

Nkana failed to record their sixth win of the season on Saturday, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Green Buffaloes, who equalized late in the game.

With only 11 minutes played, Oliver Lumbiya gave the hosts the lead, but Golden Mashata equalized for Buffaloes in the 86th minute, denying the hosts the chance to take all three points.

Nkana Coach Beston Chambeshi stated that their lack of defensive maturity cost them the game, which they could have won.

He stated that his defenders’ lack of maturity and poor communication were the reasons they were unable to win the game.

“You know, we need maturity, especially in defense,” he said. “We need maturity because sometimes you have to see the tempo of the game itself.” “Even communication is important in defense.”

Chambeshi Impressed with new signings

Chambeshi was, however, satisfied with three of his new signings in David Kabala, and Glorie Bakafwa who made their debut appearances over the weekend

“It’s their first appearance, and it’s not easy for the boys, and our league is just too competitive; fairly, they put up a good fight, but they need to work more hard.”

The Nkana coach remains confident that his side will be able to bounce back in their next game against Chambishi FC this weekend, despite having a poor record against them.

“Yes, we are going to play Chambishi FC. “They have been a stubborn team, but the way things are going, I could see how we are going to approach the game in Chambishi; otherwise, we need to start picking up maximum points,” he said.

Nkana is currently 13th in the league standings after 21 games played, having scored 17 goals and allowing 18.

They will travel to Chambishi FC on Saturday, hoping to win after failing to pick up all three points in their previous two league matches.
