Newly promoted MTN Super League side Atletico Lusaka is implementing a new method for ball boys to reduce delays and ensure smooth gameplay, following concerns from some fans and players.

The club, which was promoted to the Super League last season, revealed on Tuesday that they have devised a new system for their ball boys.

“Starting with our next home game,  will be implementing a new system to reduce time and wasting and unnecessary tension involving ball boys. Their duty will be limited to placing the balls on cones alone,” the club statement read.

“Instead of using the usual ball boys, we will have balls on strategically positioned cones around the pitch. This arrangement will allow players to efficiently retrieve the balls themselves during the throw-ins or kick-ins.

“We believe this change will enhance professionalism and elevate the quality of the game by eliminating external influences when retrieving the ball,” concluded the statement

Athletico Lusaka will face the Green Buffaloes in week 5, following the international break.

In their first four Super League games, they have won once, drawn twice, and lost one game. Their first win came at Sunset Stadium last Thursday, a 1-0 victory over Zanaco in week 3, and they currently sit seventh in the standings with five points.
