Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first individual to hit the 1 billion followers mark across all social media platforms.
The 39-year-old is also the most followed on Instagram and created multiple YouTube records after opening his channel, ‘UR. Cristiano.’
The Al Nassr superstar YouTube channel reached 50 million subscribers in under a week, reportedly a record for the platform. The channel took 90 minutes to reach 1 million subscribers when the first video launched on August 21.
As of today, Ronaldo has 170 million followers on Facebook and 113 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), while he tops Instagram with 638 million followers, ranking just behind the official Instagram account.
Ronaldo shared his excitement on various social media platforms, stating that the milestone is ‘a testament to shared passion, drive, and love for the game and beyond’.
“You’ve been with me every step of the way” Ronaldo.
“We’ve made history—1 billion followers! This is more than just a number—it’s a testament to our shared passion, drive, and love for the game and beyond,” Ronaldo said in a Facebook post.
The Portuguese striker, who recently completed a record 900 career goals during a UEFA Nations League match not long ago, further expressed gratitude to his family and fans who have been supportive throughout his career.
“From the streets of Madeira to the biggest stages in the world, I’ve always played for my family and for you, and now 1 billion of us stand together,” he said.
“You’ve been with me every step of the way, through all the highs and the lows. This journey is our journey, and together, we’ve shown that there are no limits to what we can achieve.
Thank you for believing in me, for your support, and for being part of my life. The best is yet to come, and we’ll keep pushing, winning, and making history together.”
