The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced new dates for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026.
CAF had initially awarded Morocco the hosting rights for the tournament in October 2024, with the competition scheduled to take place from 17 March to 3 April 2026.
However, following the 2025 AFCON chaos in the final involving Morocco and Senegal, which saw fans vandalize property and Senegal leaving the pitch in protest during the game, Morocco reportedly reconsidered its interest in hosting the tournament, leading to weeks of uncertainty.
CAF has said, “following discussions with its partners, including FIFA and other key stakeholders, CAF has decided to reschedule the tournament to 25 July–16 August 2026. The decision was made to ensure the successful delivery of the continent’s premier women’s football competition in light of certain unforeseen circumstances.”
CAF stated that preparations for the tournament are already underway, with all parties expressing confidence that the tournament will be successfully delivered.major success but they did not indicate if their will be a new host.
