Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club head coach Charles Haalubono is confident Zesco Ndola Girls Football Club head coach William Zulu can guide the team to victory in this year’s COSAFA-CAF Women’s Champions League tournament.
Zesco Ndola Girls are unbeaten in 32 matches with 29 wins, three draws and no defeats. They currently have 90 points.
Haalubono led the Zambia Army-sponsored side to a victory via penalties in the 2022 edition of the regional qualifier by beating Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
In an interview, Haalubono revealed that he communicates with Zulu, as they share a cordial relation.
He adds that Zesco Ndola Girls are likely to go beyond the group stages.
“We do share notes as coaches. It’s not something which will be new, maybe at club level, but as coaches we speak most of the time,” Haalubono said.
“They should maintain the teamwork they have exhibited and hard work. They should be tactically and technically strong as well, the way they have done it in this current session.”
The former Yanga Queens gaffer is elated with the progress the Zambian Women league had attained despite lack of investment.
“Our league keeps improving every season. It will be one of the toughest leagues in Africa. We have seen the coming in of sponsorship (Eden University). Now we are waiting for cup games.”
Zesco Ndola Girls have this season won their first-ever Eden University Super League title, ending Green Buffaloes four seasons of dominance.
