Zambia U-17 Women’s National Team striker Masela Sekeseke anticipates a tough match against Benin, despite holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg.
The Copper Princesses carry a slim advantage into the final leg and will be hoping to finish the job and book their place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Zambia put up a strong fight in front of their home fans to gain the upper hand at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The Red Arrows Women’s team attacker delivered a standout performance, playing a key role in helping the Copper Princesses secure the first-leg victory.
Speaking to FAZ media, Sekeseke admitted that qualification is far from guaranteed.
“Our work isn’t yet done looking at the fact that here at home we only beat them by 2 goals to 1, and it’s a really tight position for us if we want to make it to the World Cup because Benin isn’t a weak side; they are a really strong side and they also want to go to the World Cup just like we want to,” she said.
“The chapter isn’t over yet. When we go to Benin, we are really looking forward to working on our mistakes and capitalize on every chance we are going to create so that we score more goals and earn qualification to the World Cup,” added Sekeseke.
We want to make history again- Sekeseke
The Red Arrows attacker urged fans to continue supporting the team as they chase history.
“We want to qualify for the World Cup and make history again. So our promise to the fans is that we are going to win this for them; they should not give up on us,” noted the Copper Princesses striker.
Meanwhile, the winner of Saturday’s encounter will secure automatic qualification to the U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup, set to be hosted in Morocco in October.
