Red Arrows Women’s Football Club beat Zanaco Ladies 2-0 in the Women’s Super League on Sunday to leapfrog defending champions Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club (GBWFC) at the summit of the table.
Goals from Mary Mulenga and Aliness Kasoma were enough to seal the three points that took the Airwomen to the top of the table.
They are now three points clear of GBWFC who have a game in hand against Elite Ladies F.C
This season, Red Arrows have been consistent and have given the defending champions a run for their money.
GBWFC were the champions of the inaugural edition of the Women’s League which was established in 2021.
They went on to represent Zambia in the COSAFA Club Champions League, which they won. This also ensured their qualification for their first-ever CAF Champions League appearance.
Meanwhile, Red Arrows ended GBWFC’s 44-game unbeaten run in Zambia and look set to dethrone them as champions.
