Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have made an offer to sign Eneless Phiri, the 19-year-old rising star of Zesco Ndola Girls and the Copper Queens.
Phiri has been in outstanding form for both club and country. Sundowns first noticed her at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League | COSAFA Qualifiers, where she was named Player of the Tournament, scoring three goals in five matches and winning two Player of the Match awards.
She also starred in Zesco’s 2-1 win over Sundowns, scoring the equalizer and creating multiple chances, including the one that led to Fridah Kabwe’s match-winner, helping Ndola Girls reach the final, which they lost 4-3 on penalties to Gaborone United Ladies FC following a 1-1 draw.
BolaNews sources reveal that Sundowns has already sent a transfer request to Zesco and is awaiting a response.
The player herself is keen to advance her career: “I have higher ambitions. I wish to play at the highest level one day. I am working hard for that to happen,” she told BolaNews.
Over the weekend, Phiri continued her fine run, winning the Golden Boot at the Three-Nation Tournament in Malawi, scoring a brace against Zimbabwe and providing an assist to finish as the tournament’s top scorer.
She now has three goals and three assists in her last four games for the Copper Queens, making her the squad’s most in-form player.
