Green Buffaloes and Copper Queensâ defender Lushomo Mweemba suffered an ankle injury in March while playing for her club.
The Zambia Womenâs National team defender has been out ever since, missing two international friendly matches against South Korea.
When contacted by Bolanews, Green Buffaloes head coach Charles Haalubono revealed when Mweemba is likely to return to full fitness
Haalubono said the international defender has started individual light training and is no longer experiencing pain.
âCurrently she has started individual light training, and doing some physical exercises. She told me that she is no longer in pain nowâŠ. And she will be ready to train in the coming weeks,â Haalubono revealed to BolaNews in an interview.
The Zambia Womenâs Super League winning coach further disclosed that Mweemba completed her physiotherapy treatment last week.
âI actually talked to her, she told me that she is far much better now,â Haalubono said. â And next week she will be able to resume group training, with the rest of the team. In fact last week she just completed her physiotherapy treatment which she was done at Maina Soko Military Hospital.âÂ

With the Copper Queens set to enter camp next month ahead of their 2023 FIFA Womenâs World Cup, Zambians are hoping Mweemba will be fully fit soon.
Zambia will play Ireland and Switzerland in June before ending their preparations in July with a match against two-time world champions Germany.
The FIFA Womenâs World Cup will begin from July 20th, 2023 to August 20th, 2023 and the Copper Queens are in Group C alongside Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan.
