Kundananji’s recent social media activity sparks transfer speculation

Zambian striker Rachael Kundananji may have hinted at which club she could join from Spanish women's top flight side Madrid CFF.

CHANDA AND KUNDANANJI

Fans are wondering why Rachael Kundananji did not make the matchday squad in Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Despite being available on the bench, the striker also didn’t play a single minute in the previous two Liga F outings.

With three consecutive stalemates against Real Sociedad, Sevilla, and Atletico Madrid, Madrid’s CFF has suffered an unprecedented winless streak without Kundananji.

Fans and pundits alike continue to debate whether it’s an injury, illness, disciplinary issue, or imminent transfer that has kept the Zambian forward out of action.

Just a month ago, Madrid CFF turned down a €400,000 bid from a U.S.-based club to sign Kundananji. The bid did not match the striker’s €700,000 release clause.

The Copper Queen has not directly provided any update on why she has been missing games for her club. However, fans believe they have figured out the reason for Kundananji’s recent absence.

Which club could Kundananji be heading to?

On Instagram, Kundananji boasts over 4,800 followers and has followed over 1,200 accounts. However, one of the accounts she recently followed will be of particular interest to those who have continued to ask questions about the striker’s future.

Kundananji now follows National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Bay Football Club. That is the only women’s top-flight side from the United States that the Copper Queens star follows on Instagram.

Coupled with interest from the United States a month ago, Kundananji’s association with Bay FC only fuels the rumour that she could be on her way out of Madrid CFF.

Bay FC have already made a statement signing this winter when they brought in Asisat Oshoala from FC Barcelona Femeni for a reported fee of €150,000.

With the 2024 season kicking off in March being their first in the NWSL, Bay FC could fancy a strike partnership of Asisat Oshoala and Rachael Kundananji to lead the line.

At the beginning of January, #MadridCFF rejected an offer of €400K from an NWSL club, according to @david_menayo.

The Zambian forward has also been rumoured to be Oshoala’s potential replacement at FC Barcelona Femeni.
